therapeutic yoga

Yoga therapy is using  yoga techniques and practices as a healing journey to help individuals facing physical or mental health challenges at any level manage their conditions, reduce symptoms, restore balance, increase vitality, and improve attitude. Elaine works through TriYoga Boston, an 800 IAYT pending approved program.

Elaine meets with individuals and co-creates a treatment plan that may include yoga asanas, chair yoga, meditation, nutrition, mantras and other healing modalities. She helps clients access their own tools to healing, health and wellness. She meets with clients over weeks to assess progress and adjust their plan.

trauma-sensitive yoga

A body-based practice like yoga can be a critical healing technique for anyone who has experienced trauma. By releasing held tension, paying attention to the present, and regulating the nervous system, a body-based approach helps ease the feelings of helplessness, fear, arousal, and disconnection that can arise for trauma survivors. There is no experience necessary. TSY is a safe way to experiment with being in a body: breathing, strengthening, stretching and resting. Elaine can teach privates or small classes for adults, teens or kids. The clients are gently guided but remain in control of their sessions and bodies.

Clients  may include survivors of sexual or domestic violence, chronic stress/trauma, medical trauma, eating challenges.

reiki

yoga for breast cancer

Elaine is certified by Exclusive Yoga® to lead small groups or privates pre and post surgery and treatment. Yoga is an ideal for clients to regain a sense of serenity, self-efficacy and new promise in their bodies.

Calming breath techniques also promote lymph flow and gentle stretching ansanas enhance range of motion and flexibility in the upper body. Specific yogic techniques help with neuropathy and other related issues, gently rebuilding strength.

Dynamic lower body stretches benefit hips, legs, and joints.

Total body relaxation and life-affirming meditation aid the natural self-healing process.

Elaine takes an individual medical history relevant to treatment and goals of the client, such as increased range of motion or increased energy and muscle tone, and customize a plan of treatment.

Y12SR yoga for addiction recovery

Elaine is a certified group leader for Y12SR.

Yoga is meant to help us balance our complex lives while living in a complex world. The 12-step program of recovery approaches addiction at a cognitive level, yoga includes a somatic approach. Y12SR combines the two, creating a model that truly addresses addiction as the physical, mental and spiritual disease that it is, while recogning that yoga and its practices are a part of a holistic recovery program and rather than a replacement, it provides adjunct tools to address the physical, mental and spiritual disease of addiction.

There are meetings now all over the country and internationally and this fall one of three in Mass. will be in Salem!

Note: All sessions for any yoga can be in the privacy of your home or in a studio or in Elaine's home studio. Fees vary for different modalities and can be offered on a sliding scale.
